Hi everybody! I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was a good mix of relaxation and finishing little projects.
Last year I recovered this ottoman in our family room and honestly, it was beginning to look horrible. After a year's worth of feet propping it was ready for a new fabric. I've been on the hunt for a leather or faux ostrich - something simple that wouldn't limit me color wise. I lucked up and found a faux ostrich over the weekend and Mr. and I recovered it together. This was definitely a two person job! More on that soon.
Something else on our to-do list was hanging art in the family room. Done! I'll be sharing a great online custom mat service later this week. P.S. I ordered these pillows last November from J&M. When they finally arrived I was a little sad to see blue and white on the cover of Pottery Barn. Fingers crossed that this color combo isn't overdone like ikats, chevron, and horizontal stripes (guilty). Yikes!
Mr. and I were on a mission last weekend that required a doughnut pan. So off to Sur La Table we went. We could spent hours (and hundreds) in there.
Just around the corner from Sur La Table happens to be our favorite wine bar. We popped in and tried a new (to us) wine. The whole day felt like we were on vacation somewhere else. Don't you love it when that happens?
Many of you know that my father died at a young age of 46. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and wish he could meet our boys. The other day as Mr. and our youngest set out to chop wood for our first fire of the season, I mentioned to Parker that Dad always wore this buffalo plaid shirt when he chopped wood. (I have two of Dad's favorite shirts and wear one of them often). Parker put on Dad's shirt and it fit him. He looks so old in this picture. I think he liked the idea of wearing his grandfather's shirt to chop wood.
Mattie Gray very much approved of the fire.
If you are looking for a soup to try this winter, I highly recommend chicken, bacon, and wild rice found here. We served it up with good bread and everybody went back for seconds!
Sunday morning I made cinnamon baked doughnuts and they were delicious. I accidentally doubled the recipe though and now we have more than we'll ever eat. Oops! I hope your Monday goes well!
