Hi friends! It's been a while since I looked at the to-do list I posted at the beginning of 2014 outlining a few changes I wanted to make to our home during the year. If I'm being honest, I was avoiding looking at the list thinking that we had fallen short of of everything I publicly announced was going to happen. I'm not one to make resolutions, but prefer to constantly re-evaluate where I am and where I'm going, more on that tomorrow. So the other day I took a look at this post, and much to my surprise felt better knowing that we had in fact addressed the majority of the list, and naturally I've added a few new things to it.
Even though we haven't added the box molding to the dining room, we still plan to, and I believe it will happen within the next couple of months (after the kitchen is finished). I'm also thinking of getting rid of the lantern and replacing it with a chandelier. I know, I know, but I'm ready for a change. If you are local and want the details, email me. Still to do is replace the lampshades! I'm also considering whitewashing the table, changing the artwork, oh I could go on and on. Ha!
My goal for the stairs was to add artwork and molding. I moved the portraits of our sons which had been hanging in the living room for years to the stairway and really like the formality they add. It also allowed me to try something different in the living room which you can see here. We replaced the light at the top of the stairs and I'm really happy with how it turned out. You can read about the stair runner here. Still no molding, but there's always 2015.
Also on the to-do list was painting the living room. We went from BM white dove to SW worldly gray. You can also see the vertical stripes that I painted in the entryway using worldly gray and white dove.
I haven't shared all of the changes in the kitchen with you yet, but here is a peek at the shiplap we added to replace the old plate wall. We were thinking of getting rid of the drum shade pendants, but have decided to keep them. I love the texture they add and really take on a different appearance now that the planks are up. We still have to take care of a few details in this room like crown molding and that darn soffit, but we are well on our way to a much improved space.
Our son's wish to change up his room was granted. The new color is BM hale navy and no, his room doesn't look this clean right now!
Last on the list was the upstairs bathroom. Lord bless the friends who have to go in there. I have no pictures to share, but we have made a few changes mostly prompted by having out of town guests for graduation last spring. While it was an improvement, I'm not sure that anything is blog worthy.
Here's to finishing projects big & small in the new year and I'll be sure to take you along with me.
