This year is bitter sweet. As I've mentioned before, our oldest son will graduate from high school. Where he will go to college next year is uncertain, but he has big plans. I can't imagine what it will be like as a family of three. Dinners will be much quieter. There will be less laundry and fewer groceries to buy. He will be missed, but we are all very excited for his next phase in life. Over the year I've noticed our boys growing closer. They are both in high school now and ride to school together each morning. I hope their friendship continues and that they can always reach out one another. There have been so many moments this year that have caught my attention. I really am trying to take it all in knowing how quickly senior year flies.
The moment when I looked into the eyes of my little boy (our youngest) only to realize that I was looking up, not down, and that he is no longer a little boy.
The moment when two brothers devise a plan to rake the yard in record time, doing it together and doing it well.
The moment when the older brother invites his younger brother on a late night run to Cook Out with his friends.
The moment when I hear foot steps coming down the stairs at 5:00 AM for swim practice and I realized that he is more determined than I was at 17.
The moment when I get an unexpected hug after school.
The moment when I'm told to listen to the words to the Jack Johnson song, We are Going to be Friends and he tells me that he wishes we were back in the day.
Here is a little flipagram I put together. I sent it as a group text to Mr. and the boys. Thanks for letting me share.
