This tree is eleven years old. How do I know? We planted it the year that our youngest son was born, 1998 to be exact. I read somewhere that you should plant a tree to honor a child when he/she is born, so we did.
At first, we weren't sure if we would be here to enjoy it, thinking that we might one day decide to move. It looks like we will be here for years to come so I am really glad that we planted this tree.
Eleven years ago this Yoshino Cherry was only about 3-4 feet tall, and you can see how it has grown. I love the bark and the branch structure. My only wish is that the blooms lasted longer. To learn more about Yoshinos go here.
