Steal This Idea

I'm loving this idea in the January issue of Southern Living.  Heather Chadduck, style director of Coastal Living, recently gave her bedroom a little makeover.  This desk is made from an old door covered in felt then wrapped in leftover fabric.  Decorative trim was added around the sides and nail heads are the finishing touch.  Find a pair of old saw horses and that's it.  Brilliant!

Now I don't know if I would use fabric on a desk unless it was covered in glass, but the idea of trimming the edges with something pretty is totally down my alley.  I am loving a few of the choices from M & J 

I'm picturing a cream or gray door or desk trimmed out with Greek key trim.

I really love the rich look of velvet.

Or what about grosgrain in a fun color?

Top it all off with nail head trim...
