Some of you might remember this post where I was considering using an animal print runner for an on-line client living in Texas. I thought you might like to see what we finally decided on.
Here is the mood board I created for the space. My client has an eclectic taste, likes shopping at Horchow, OKL, and J&M. The adjacent family room uses aubergine and citron green so we also wanted to bring those colors into the foyer. The table and mirror remained in the entryway and the other items were brought in to pull it all together.
After much discussion with the carpet installer, we decided to go with a different stair runner. As I mentioned before, my initial reaction was to recommend painting the stair risers white and/or add a runner to the stairs - possibly an animal print. My thoughts were that either of these options would brighten the dark foyer. We decided to go with a sisal runner trimmed in black for the stairs and my client chose not to paint the risers. The foyer rug will bring in a lot of light and will add a bold geometric contrast against the dark stained wood floors while still being in the neutral family.
This is the wall you see upon entering the home. The mirror will hang above the table and the table will hold the new lamp and flowers. There is also room beside the stairs for a small bench.
The colorful art will hang where the mirror is the image above. The rug will bring in a fresh punch of pattern and the white umbrella stand will be the finishing touch.
My client had this beautiful light fixture custom made for her foyer. Isn't it gorgeous?!
