Pine cone wreaths are all over pinterest so I won't bore you with all the details, but I will share what worked for me. First of all, this project took a looooong time! So I worked on it when I could. I used an 18" Styrofoam wreath which I spray painted black. Brown would have been ideal, but I already had black and it worked fine. Next I began hot gluing pine cones on. Really, you just do it the best way you can fitting the different sizes in where they fit best.
(sorry about the blurry picture)
My strategy was to glue the inside edge and top saving the outer edge for last.
I looked everywhere for the perfect ribbon to hang my wreath, but never quite found what I was looking for. So I bought a yard of satin fabric and cut it into a wide strip (about 6-7"?). It is attached to the top of the door with push pins. If you need to see this step, I can add a picture later.
By the way, for those wondering, the new door color is Sherwin Williams, Courtyard.
My posts will be sporadic this week and the etsy store will remain closed until BLACK FRIDAY. The store will re-open Friday and all items will be $5 off including custom orders. Don't miss out!
