Our Trip to Blenheim Vineyards

Thank you for all the well wishes last week!  Mr. and I had a wonderful time while our boys were away at their grandparents' in Maryland.  The halfway point between our homes is Charlottesville, VA.  That is where we normally meet to hand off or pick up the boys.  This time we decided to spend some time in Charlottesville.  It is such a charming town with so much to do and see.  As a matter of fact, I could easily live there.

Charlottesville is known for their wineries and we wanted to be sure to include at least one winery visit.  Of course Blenheim Vineyards, owned by Dave Matthews, was at the top of our list.

We enjoyed the wine tasting at Blenheim and fell in love with the Cabernet Franc.  We brought a bottle home to enjoy later - too bad we couldn't bring this view home with us as well.

The weather was absolutely perfect for a weekend road trip - warm sunshine and cool air made it feel like fall.  We even needed a sweater for late night al fresco dining.

The drive through the countryside reminded us both so much of our tenth anniversary trip to Napa, CA.  Its kinda nice having so many wineries close to home.  To my readers in NC & VA, do you have a favorite local winery?

P.S.  Don't tell anybody, but we did a little off-roading and found some delicious grapes ;).

Happy Monday everybody!  Here's to a wonderful week!
