One Room Challenge | Week Four

It is week four of the ORC and I'm beginning to feel a little anxious.  Truth be told, I'm behind.  At least it feels like I am.  The only time I have to work on things is late at night (which ain't happening) or on the weekend (which have been a little booked as of late).  SO, here I am wondering how this will all come together.  I can assure you it will, in time.

Oh, are you new around these parts?  You can catch up here.

Here is my progress.

The seat cushion is back from the upholsterer and I am thrilled!  The picture was taken just before the sun came up and looks a bit off, but you get the idea.  I have this neck roll pillow that I'm thinking of covering in the ticking stripe that you see in the image above.  It would be a nice fit under the window.  This window is on the front of the house (one of two) and I don't really want the pillows to be visible from the street so this might work.  The curtains still need to be addressed.  Yikes!  And I need a pretty basket or something to disguise my magazine habit to tuck in under the seat.

On to the gallery wall.  By the way, thank you for your feedback last week!  I always love hearing from my experts!  Here is a better shot of the wall.  Last night I poured a glass of wine, cut a few pieces of newspaper into the sizes of frames I already have, and began placing them around the TV.  Then I wondered how the abstract would look here. Then something distracted me and I walked away.  See how this works?  After studying this image I believe that I need larger frames and more of them so that they can go further up and down the wall.  You can see the inspiration post here.  I really want to keep this clean and restful with calm, tonal colors.  Nothing crazy here.  I like the idea of pencil drawings (maybe nudes?) and plan to check NYPL and Vintage Printable for something to use. Tick tock.

And finally, I ordered a pair of euro shams yesterday on deep discount from West Elm.  Gingham and ticking make me very happy and this is after all a cottage.  Not to worry, this will not be a shabby cottage bedroom, but more of a fresh, modern one with traditional roots.  Are you with me?

Still to do:

1.  Paint the shelf backs - Thank you Casey, I think I'll paint them the wall color.
2.  Hang bamboo shades.
3.  Hem window seat curtains.
4.  Hang gallery wall.
5.  Accessorize.

well said, Clinton Kelly (via)

Now let's see what the others are up to.
