Before I get to the reveal I would like to thank Linda for once again inviting me to be a part of this wonderful group of women! Also, thank you to everyone who stopped by and left comments throughout the process. It is always helpful to hear from ya'll.
When I started this project, my goal was to turn this room into a soothing retreat. Part of the plan included painting the walls and bookcase backs a warm gray. We also wanted the built-ins to have a more custom look. So we added trim detail and it made all the difference.
When it came to styling the shelves I tried to use restraint and not put everything back that was there previously. I think my edited approach worked to create a somewhat simpler space.
I really prefer simple bedding and after lots of thought about different pillow scenarios I ended up keeping the Dwell pillow and just bringing in Euro shams. We also added matchstick blinds which have been on my wish list for so long. They weren't exactly the size we needed, but were easy enough to cut. Mr. just rolled them up tightly and wrapped the ends with duct tape before cutting them to size with a saw.
We took down the huge wood framed mirror that came with the dresser and hung this gold one in its place. It did wonders for lightening things up!
And now for the gallery wall...I'm so glad you all suggested that the TV be mounted on the wall! I was somewhat against it, but I'm really happy with how this turned out. I decided to keep the frames white and really like the simplicity.
Last but not least is the window seat. I brought in the striped pillows from another room and in a last minute crunch found the ikat pillow at a local store. I already had the knit throw and basket. Love shopping the house!
I'll be back tomorrow to share sources from this project. Now let's go see some amazing transformations...
