A Fresh Take on Things

Did any of you guess what this is?  I have been looking so forward to starting this project.  It's the bedroom.  Most of the furniture that we have is hand me down or made by Dad and along the way we have filled in with thrifty finds.  Our style is comfortable traditional with a twist.  All of the furniture in our room was the same finish, either mahogany or cherry so I went to work to change that.

We found these bedside tables several years ago at World Market.  We needed something tall and narrow because the bed is high and space is limited.  Drawer, check.  Shelf, check.  That was all we needed.  Because the wood isn't anything to write home about, I decided this would be a good place to start with paint.

    Before

Also, because space is limited, we have wall mounted lamps.  I highly recommend them for bedside lights if space is tight.  Of course these came in the usual ORB and were too dark with my plan for the room.

    After

    So there you have it.

The tables received a fresh paint color and new knobs from Anthro.  Have I ever mentioned that I live less than one mile from Anthro and have only been there twice?  Yes, there is clearly a reason for that ;^)  The ORB lamps are now white.  Finally, the duvet and shams have made their way back into the picture.  The lattice pillows are ones that I made last fall.

This is only the beginning, but it feels great to finally put my ideas to work.

Painting the tables went quickly by using a sponge roller to apply the paint then following up with a brush in the hard to reach places.

So what are you up to?  Have you seen the new Nesting Newbies?  By the way, our email is still not co-operating so if you emailed me, I haven't received it yet.  Bummer.
