A New Sitting Area

Hey everybody!  It seems like this post has been in the making for quite a while now.  And, we all love a good before & after so I'm excited to share this one with you.

Being the recipient of Mom's hand-me-downs is always a good thing.  The mountain house is on the market, so I have been offered some of its contents.  If you are like me, you may say yes first, then figure out where to put it later.  Anyway, to keep this from being too long winded....

I now have campaign chest.  My thoughts were to put it in the sun room/office to use for storage.  Not sure where, but with some rearranging it would work.  And, I love the Icy Teal by Glidden that I used on the ceilingA special thanks to the Mr. for finishing that project for me ;).

So here is the newly painted chest.  It took three coats of primer and two coats of Icy Teal.  I used a roller to apply the primer and a foam brush for the color.

The hardware cleaned up easy enough with Bar Keeper's friend, but the corner pieces were a little trickier because they weren't removable.  My friend Ashley suggested I use Brasso and that worked OK, but I might work on them a little more.  Thanks Ashley!

I love how this color is bouncing around the room now from the ceiling to the chest.

I wanted to keep things on the neutral side in here and bring in lots of texture.  The chairs are from IKEA.  I cannot say enough great things about them!  The pillows (you may remember) are from my sponsor.  The mirror was one I had in another room and the bird artwork was printed (free) from Vintage Printable (no surprise!).

By the way, thanks for your comments yesterday about the mantel!  You all are sweet!  And just so you know, I think the sun is going to shine today.  So mark the happy lamp off the shopping list :).
