I am smack dab in the middle of finally completing an inspiration board for my office. Since I only have in progress pictures, I thought it might be better to bombard ya'll with images of some of my favorite inspiration boards.
Years ago, my husband and I made a similar bulletin board. That was before we knew anything about homasote - so we made it with plywood instead. I could hardly get the tacks to go into the wood :(. I do still love the lattice ribbon, but decided on something simpler this time around.
The plan is to use the board not only for client projects & fabric cuttings, but also special cards & invitations as well as reminders & inspirational images. So we made it a 4' x 6'.
We also have a pair of bronze swing arm wall sconces that I wanted to use either on or around the inspiration board. Just to make this all more challenging, the board will be mounted on a brick wall.
The lights I plan to use are similar to the one above. My inspiration board nearly reaches the ceiling so there isn't any room above for mounting lights. And rather than making it complicated with mounting the sconces directly on the board, we opted for a wall mount on either side. It is nice because the sconces swing in and raise and lower depending on how I need them.
When I saw this space it was love at first sight! It became clear that the board needed to be large enough to hang framed art as well.
So far, the board is up and so are the lights. I only need to add about 10,000 tacks around the perimeter of the board. My thumb is not happy. Maybe I will have pictures and a tutorial to share in the next few days.
